Homestead Exemption Time

It's time to file your Homestead exemption if you bought a home in the last year.

Homestead exemptions remove part of your home's value from taxation. If you want to receive a homestead exemption for the taxes on your home, the home must first qualify as a residence homestead on January 1 of the year in which you are applying.

There are two requirements:
1. You must own your home on January 1. (If you are over 65,and/or
disabled the January 1 ownership and residency are not required.)
2. You must use the home as your principal residence on January 1.

Visit your local county website to fill out the form. Be Sure to submit it by April 1.

They also offer a killer brunch on Sundays.  Be sure to check them out, if you are in the neighborhood, or make a special trip. Get there early, they are often on a wait...

We recently contracted with Noel to sell our house and buy another that better fit our needs.  She did a great job.  She was very helpful during the process, spent as much time with us as needed, and was there guiding us through every step along the way.  Noel also had great advice for us on how to stage our home for a better sale including professional photos that were awesome.  All in all it was a great experience, and we would recommend Noel to anyone who is looking to buy or sell…you won’t be disappointed.

Drought Stricken Trees need Water!

Seeing all of the trees dying in the area from the drought saddens me. Please do your part and water your trees to prevent them from dying. Hopefully we will get some reprieve. Everyone should do a rain dance! Here is a good article on how to water your trees.
